Board & paperboard

Board is defined by its grammage: 200 – 700 g/m² is called board, above 700 g/m² the material is called paperboard. For interleaving and pallet underlays, greyboard and grey paperboard are used most often for economic reasons. Greyboard is made of 100 % recovered paper and can be supplied as cut sheet or roll.

Paper

Besides wrap-up paper, the two most common paper grades used for interleaving are the higher-quality testliner (from recovered paper) and kraftliner (from virgin pulp). Thanks to its raw materials, kraftliner is significantly stronger than testliner.

Coated board & paper

Board or paper with a coating is used when products need to be protected against dirt, moisture or other influences:

  • PE coating — protection against dirt and moisture
  • VCI film — additional protection against rust (corrosion protection)
  • Antistatic / ESD coatings — prevent electrostatic charge or discharge on sensitive electronic components

More on laminated materials can be found under laminated products.

Typical applications

Our solid board is used above all in these applications:

  • Interleaving sheets on pallets — protect sensitive surfaces during stacking
  • Pallet underlays — provide even load distribution
  • Cover sheets — protect goods during transport and storage
  • Bookbinder's board — for book covers, folders and ring binders
  • Box board — as a stable carrier for packaging

Frequently asked questions

Which greyboard thickness do I need for interleaving sheets?

For classic pallet interleaving we recommend grammages between 450 g/m² and 950 g/m². For particularly heavy or sharp-edged goods a box board from 1,000 g/m² may be the better choice. We are happy to advise you individually.

Do you also supply small quantities?

Yes, we also deliver small quantities and special cut sheets. Minimum order quantities depend on the material; just ask us.

Is your board FSC®-certified?

Yes, we offer FSC®-certified board grades (FSC® C106855). This ensures that your packaging is sourced from sustainably managed forests.

Can the board be cut to size and processed individually?

Yes — in addition to standard sizes we offer discs, drilled holes, punching, cell dividers and chamfered corners to your dimensions.
